Pocatello Community Charter School

Our first and second graders recently kicked off their expedition - "Potatoes: The Magical Tuber of Idaho". The Casper Crew participated in a chalk talk about what makes something a plant or animal and taking a survey about Spuddy Buddy. The students walk around to various posters with questions meant to make them think about what they might already know. Then they place a note on each poster with what they know. It's a great way to start conversation and get into learning mode! The first and second graders have also visited potato farms and gleaned potatoes to donate to the Idaho Food Bank. Service and learning go so well together! Ask a first or second grader what they are learning about potatoes and they will be happy to tell you!
